It’s time to look ahead to changes in the Executive Board. We have four members whose terms are up this spring, and we will accept nominations for new board members through February 10, 2017. Self-nominations are welcome.
Who should join the E-board?
Anyone who is currently serving in a writing center in the MWCA region is invited to a nomination for the board. Board members serve three-year terms after election.
What’s the workload like?
The MWCA Executive Board meets monthly over a phone conferencing system to address activities and plans for the MWCA. The summer months are generally pretty quiet, and there’s more activity around a conference year. Most board tasks are divided among E-board members based on their skills and interests in the world of writing center studies. We know everyone has other commitments, so we try to respect the time of board members. If you’re interested in making an impact in the region, you’ll find ways to get involved and spend 1-5 hours per month supporting our work.
I’ve been looking for ways to get more involved. Is this a good strategy?
Absolutely! Whether you are focused on gathering folks in your state or local area, or want to get to know peers in writing centers across the region, joining the MWCA Board is a great way to reach out! We are looking for engaged and active writing center staff and directors to help align our state consortias and spread the word about what’s happening in WC’s around the midwest. Join the team!
If you, or someone you know, would like to join the Board, please share this post! In order to make a nomination, please send an email expressing your interest and include a short bio or statement about yourself and your interests to Mike Haen at email@example.com. Statements should be no more than 300 words.
