Chicagoland Writing Center – Fall Gathering
September 24, 2016

A Message from Rachel Holtz ( )

Greetings, Chicagoland Writing/Learning Center Directors, Coordinators, and Administrators! On behalf of the UIC Writing Center peer tutors and staff, I would like to invite you and your undergraduate and graduate writing tutors to The 2016 Chicagoland Fall Gathering!

This event is on Saturday, September 24th from 9:30am to 3:00pm at UIC’s Writing Center (105 Grant Hall * 703 S. Morgan St.). This event is free, and breakfast and lunch will be provided.

This Fall Gathering is a one-day student-led mini-conference that is designed to provide a space where peer writing tutors from the Chicagoland area can come together and have conversations on writing center pedagogies, best practices, and experiences. Some of the tutor-centered activities planned for this gathering include Conversation Cafe discussions, Round Robin sessions (15-min recurring interactive presentations), and graduate student presentations.

Your peer writing tutors will have the opportunity to propose to lead a Round Robin session topic of their choosing (either individually or as a group). Writing tutors can indicate their interest in leading a session when they register for the conference (see link below). Submissions for Round Robin sessions will be accepted starting Friday, September 2nd through Friday, September 16th. Please encourage your peer writing tutors to propose to lead a Round Robin session because it’s great professional development experience!

All directors, coordinators, faculty/staff tutors, and peer writing tutors are invited to this event. Please register for the Fall Gathering no later than Friday, September 16th. Please register HERE →

Please contact me with questions. I look forward to seeing you all soon!
