seeks to hire TWO full-time probationary tenure-track Assistant Professors or Associate Professors

to start August 2017:

(1) Assistant/Associate Professor as Director of the Center for Writing Excellence

The English Department at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire seeks to hire a full-time probationary tenure-track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor with a 50% administrative appointment to serve as the Director of the Center for Writing Excellence, beginning August 21, 2017. The successful candidate must have completed all requirements for a doctoral degree in Rhetoric and Composition or a closely related field by August 21, 2017 and must demonstrate evidence of excellence in teaching writing at the college level, experience in writing center administration, and strong scholarship or scholarly potential. Other strong assets include scholarly activity in writing center research, or active involvement in writing center community at the regional and/or national level; experience with WAC, WID or related initiatives; experience with writing center or writing program assessment; additional areas of scholarly interest or research; and demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. The successful candidate will receive a 50% administrative appointment in order to direct the Center for Writing Excellence, which includes supervising and working with professional staff; recruiting, training, and mentoring undergraduate tutors and graduate assistants; planning and implementing enriched student programming; working with the Director of the Writing Program to provide WAC/WID support for campus; and undertaking program assessment. In addition, the successful candidate will teach 5-6 credits each semester in the English Department (including courses in the Blugold Seminar), participate in research and scholarly activities, and engage in service to the department, college, and university. (2) Assistant/Associate Professor to serve as Director of Writing Program 

The English Department at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire seeks to hire a full-time probationary tenure-track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to serve as the Director of the Writing Program, beginning August 21, 2017.  Successful candidates will have an earned doctorate in Rhetoric and Composition or a closely related field and will demonstrate evidence of a record of excellence in teaching writing at the college level, experience in writing program administration, and strong scholarship or scholarly potential. The successful candidate will direct the University’s Blugold Seminar in Critical Reading and Writing (http://www.uwec.edu/Blugoldseminar/index.htm); coordinate and develop WAC, WID, and related campus-wide initiatives; teach in the English Department (5-8 credits per semester); as well as participate in research and scholarly activities and service to the department, college, and university. These responsibilities also include supervising and working with professional staff, training and mentoring instructors who teach in the Blugold Seminar program, working across the University to promote the Blugold Seminar, coordinating with the Center for Writing Excellence, and undertaking assessment of the writing program.
